About Jersey Shore Noir

The images in Jersey Shore Noir emerged from the visual exercise of converting some of my color photos to black and white.  I wanted to look at the same things differently during a transitional phase to wherever my photography goes next.  A companion collection, Noir is the New Black, also resulted from this exercise.  Not coincidentally I created both compilations during the hurricane season.

"And once the storm is over you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure, in fact, whether the storm is really over.  But one thing is certain.  When you come of the storm you won't be the same person who walked in.  That's what the storm is all about."

----Haruki Murakami

Jersey Shore Noir and Noir is the New Black are both dedicated to survivors of the storms.
